Eric Molsted’s 26′ cruiser

Eric Molsted of Sisters, Oregon recently completed and launched this 26′ cruiser. The hull is strip-planked 1″ x 7/16″ hemlock, fiberglass inside and out. Eric used WEST SYSTEM Epoxy throughout. With a 25 HP outboard, this cruiser will do 14 knots. He hopes to scale the boat to 31′ or 36 ‘ with an inboard engine someday. Continue reading

Battleship Replica

This battleship replica was built by Rob Neill of Naples, Florida. He began building models after retiring from his job at the local power company. He spent two years building the 15′ radio-controlled replica of the Iowa class Battleship, New Jersey, using wood, WEST SYSTEM epoxy and brass. Starting from scratch, he completed a set of plans by scaling photographs and drawings from library books, then lofted a mold from the plans. Continue reading

Jean-Yves Poirier’s Strip-Planked Boats

Jean-Yves Poirier of Atyre, France, built these strip planked boats with WEST SYSTEM Epoxy. Above— ZINNA, a half replica of an English 19th-century racing dinghy, 18′ long, 177 sq. ft. sail area, 400 pounds. Below—NYMPHEA, an ultralight Thames rowing skiff, 23′ long, 145 pounds. Continue reading
